For Missoula’s underserved families, finding reliable transportation can be a significant barrier to housing stability, employment, education, childcare, health care and more. At Climate Smart Missoula we’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact bikes can have to not only reduce carbon pollution but also provide a reliable, inexpensive mode for accessing all our community has to offer.

That’s why we’re partnering with YWCA Missoula to launch a new Climate Catalyst Fund campaign to supply clients who have recently secured housing with e-bikes or, depending on their need, non-electric commuter bikes.

For our inaugural fall 2026 campaign we aim to raise $15,000 to purchase these bikes. Our campaign partner Missoula Bicycle Works, will secure the bikes and acquire all necessary safety equipment.

Your donation will help provide families not only with a valuable tool toward independence, but also the freedom that comes from simply riding a bike.

Missoula icon Ethel MacDonald was our community’s biggest bicycle advocate. She passed away in October 2025 and donated one of her e-bikes to Climate Smart. Her charitable foundation recently donated $2000 toward this campaign. We are so honored and will always be inspired by her enthusiasm for bikes, travel, and community building.
